I am always hopeful when the new year starts...hopeful that I will complete my projects, keep my studio clean, be a better/kinder person, eat healthier and accept the opportunities that come my way. I am hopeful that I will always see what is truly important no matter what happens. This quote sums it up for me today:
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.”
—Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862); philosopher, writer, naturalist

I learned to knit 30+ years ago from my mother's childhood friend Yola. I have always been happy to knit my scarves or anything that was square or rectangular. No swatch test, no pattern, just knit. My skills were very limited, but I still managed to teach Lindsey and she became the insatiable knitter. I purchased some books for her, but she was desperate to knit socks. She would look at me shocked when I would say, "Honey, we are going to have to take a class because I can't figure this out from the book!". So finally we found a wonderful store in Seattle, Bad Woman Yarns, and took a class together. Lee, the owner is a great intructor and we have been happily knitting ever since the class.
These will be the most expensive socks, but definitely worth every penny to enjoy a class with my oldest daughter who will be an amazing knitter. I keep hinting that I want her to make me a sweater! Insert eye roll from my 12 year old. So here she is sporting the hat I knit that was unfortunatley just a little short for me.
Image 1 is my sock, Image 2 is this great ribbon yarn that I am making a curly scarf and plan on making some easy flowers with, Image 3 is a crochet curly scarf that hopefully I will finish soon and the last sock is my daughters. I hope to finish all of these in 2009.
My little Petunia's birthday part was rescheduled this past Saturday, and as I was saving pictures I came across her birthday photo at 2 years. The last 5 years have gone by soooo fast! Those of you that followed my previous blog "My Sweet Petunia", this is my little preemie that was born in December and weighed only 1.5 pounds...my Christmas miracle 7 years ago! She is now 7...and I honestly can't believe how time flies. I hope that this year I will be mindful of enjoying this time with both my girls...for I know all too soon they will be grown up.
I hope this year is full of everything that makes you happy!
