Ice Resin Love

So I purchased  Ice Resin by the amazing Susan Lenart Kazmer months ago, and let me tell you this stuff is fantastic.  I have used Rio's resin before with success, but there were a ton of bubbles etc.  I was amazed that after pouring the Ice Resin that there were no bubbles.  I could see them when I was mixing it but after pouring they were gone.  I did run a flame over just to make sure, but the result was amazing.  Here is a sterling bezel with a vintage french saint set in Ice Resin that I purchased a few years ago from Corey Amaro of Tongue in Cheek.  

 

 

Yep...more tape

My youngest daughter wanted to go to Paper Source and was looking all around when she spied the tape...I know my fault.  She came running over saying "mom, they have tape!"

Me "we do not need any more tape...you just got some for Christmas" 

Daughter "Come see..."

I was looking at the washi tape  thinking we did not need anymore when all of a sudden I saw turquoise blue chevron duct tape...well I definitely needed that:) So she got some washi tape and I got the duct tape.  I think my husband will question the word "need", but I am sure you all understand.

I love washi tape!

Yes I do!  Maybe obsessed...happiness is finding a color you don't have.  I was loving that yellow chevron...oh letters...oh the numbers.  There are so many options now a days and the uses are endless.  I love to make cards and use them in my journal, but the other day I used them to decorate and seal a little gift box for a friend.  Cute no?

Great Photography Class

I would take any class offered by Karen Russell.  She is the best teacher and I credit my skills in photography to her.  I just got back from a workshop in Oregon and hope to post about it soon, but it all started with her online class.

Happy Times Journal

Finished a journal from the online class "Full Tilt Boogie" by Mary Ann Moss. Love this old vintage children's book I found at an antique mall on my way back to an airport!  A lucky find indeed.

She teaches several other binding techniques in this class and I hope to make them all!  I have taken 3 of Mary Ann's online classes and have to say they are the most entertaining and informative.  I always seem to finish all the videos and even finish a few journals...her otheronline journal class "Remain's of the Day" is just as fantastic. 

French General - Paris Wish Journal

A few months ago I won a wonderful paper packet from French General.  I follow Kaari's blog, and I hope one day to make it to her shop in California or her retreat in France.  In addition to fabulous fabric, Kaari now has a line of great paper products.  I created a Paris wish journal with some of the products...I hope to get back to Paris and this will be my little intentions book.

 Included in one packet was this great fabric that had a sticky back...I used it like book cloth to join two canvas boards..perfect for my journal spine and then embellished the covers with the Jolee collection and a few vintage french finds of my own...

 

I painted a black and white copy of a photo I took in Paris and collaged with ephemera.  Wish label by the talented Mary Ann Moss.  I use them for packaging and in my journals...you can order the downloadable PDF on her blog.

I hope to use some more of the paper to create some collages to put in bezels for necklace...the possibilities are endless.

 

 

 

To the Trees

Seward Park holds one of Seattle's treasures: the Magnificent Forest, a rare example of an urban lowland old growth forest.  I have been to Seward Park a few times, but never wandered up into the trees....

And although there are many large beautiful trees...I am fascinated by all the little things you find along the way.

Fabric Intervention and Dottie Angel

I am packing for my weekend workshop by Dottie Angel one of Angela Ritchie's Ace Camps. Looking at my piles I think I might need a fabric intervention, and I am certain I will be meeting 12 other women who share the same passion for textiles old and new.  I can't wait to get started.

Danielle (talented new artist friend) if you are reading this...I have been procrastinating too.  So you are not alone.

Vintage Frames

I was doing a little organizing this weekend and made this simple jewelry hanger for my bathroom.  It was simple...a few little copper nails from the hardware store and vintage frame...

I love old frames and have them for cork-boards, chalkboards etc.   My favorite project in my studio was using frames on the custom shelves my husband created.

The possibilities are endless.
